La version 0.24 de Siege, un mod pour BF1942 vient de sortir. Vous y trouverez de nouveaux véhicules et de nouvelles armes.
Siege tries to convey the struggle of pitting a large invasion force against a heavily fortified defending team. Maps:
-----
This version contains two maps, Agincourt and Siege of Orleans.
The Battle of Agincourt was fought during the Hundred Year's War on October
25, 1415. The retreating army of King Henry V of England faced the numerically superior army of Charles VI of France. The English army, using the advantages
of the terrain, came out victorious against the heavily armoured French cavalry which got bogged down in the mud and was wiped out in the hail of arrows rained down upon them. It was one of the turning points in the war.
In 1428 The English started besieging the town of Orléans, a key bridgehead to
the southern cities of France. It was the largest remaining fortified position
held by the French. The siege lasted for months until the momentum swung towards the French when Joan of Arc led a relief force which lifted the siege
in 1429.
New Vehicles:
-------------
? Siege Tower ? Large, mobile assault tower with drawbridges. Unarmed and slow
but provides a protected mean of scaling walls.
? Catapult ? A mobile, boulder hurling, siege weapon that provides indirect
fire power against fortifications.
? Battering Ram ? A close range vehicle specifically designed to level gate
doors. It provides protection against arrows from above for 6 soldiers.
? Landing Boat ? Quick and manoeuvrable basic water transportation used for
surprise raids.
New Stationary Weapon:
----------------------
? Ballista - Defensive siege weapon used against formations of soldiers. Also works on siege weapons.
New Infantry Weapons:
---------------------
English:
--------
? Swordsman ? Sword & Heater Shield combo
-basic infantry weapon with wide shield for protection vs.
arrows.
? Infantry ? Morning Star & Round Shield combo
-powerful blunt weapon that's also useful against siege
weapons. Round shield provides basic upper body protection
vs. arrows.
? Halberdman - Bill
-long reaching pole-arm weapon that's useful at repelling
assaulting troops.
? Archer - Longbow
-long range bow that is deadly when used in large numbers.
(English halberdmen and archers also receive the standard issue dagger that is
weaker and shorter than the sword.)
French:
-------
? Swordsman ? Sword & Kite Shield combo
-basic infantry weapon with tall shield for protection vs.
arrows.
? Infantry ? Hammer & Round Shield combo
-powerful blunt weapon that's also useful against siege
weapons. Round shield provides basic upper body protection
vs. arrows.
? Halberdman - Poleaxe
-long reaching pole-arm weapon that's useful at repelling
assaulting troops.
? Archer - Crossbow
-powerful penetrating bow that can decimate a soldier in
a single shot. (LMB = fire, RMB = zoom.)
(French halberdmen and archers also receive the standard issue dagger that is
weaker and shorter than the sword.)
Tips on Creating the Authentic Medieval Battlefield Experience:
---------------------------------------------------------------
-classes of the same type should march in formations
-archers should fire arrow volleys in unison for maximum effectiveness
-fall back when it is obvious that death is imminent
-use the halberd class defensively
-use archers to soften the enemy but not for direct combat
-the catapult is designed to be able to fire from a safe distance, do not go
point blank to a fortified enemy location
-stand with the shield facing incoming arrows to block them
-walking may take long so remaining among other soldiers in your team will
increase your chances of arriving to your destination
