Doom est le shooter qui a inventé le match à mort, et l'absence de ce mode de jeu dans le dernier opus de DOOM a pu laisser perplexe bon nombre de fans de la série. Les développeurs d'id Software ont donc décidé de se sortir les doigts du fondement pour se remettre au boulot sur cet indispensable du mode multi. Ainsi, la dernière mise à jour gratuite du titre apporte ce mode de jeu, en plus de la possibilité (enfin !) de créer des parties privées en multi.

Par contre, force est de l'avouer que le multi est sympathique. Il est accessible, et récompense le skill de manière assez généreuse. L'idée du gameplay asymétrique, avec le démon (4 ou 5 au choix), et les armes puissantes qui spawnent donnent du piquant aux parties.
